Stories

We measure our success in actual lives changed. These stories are a testament to the difference that communities can make when we come together to create lasting change.

Featured Story - Volunteer

Yvette

Yvette has been volunteering with the pantry for several years.  She is someone that you may never see, but the impact of her work is big.  Yvette handles all of the pet food ensuring that we have enough bagged to hand out when we are open.  She is a master organizer and works tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure we are ready to open on Saturdays.  When we provide special items to the clients, like the Christmas ornaments we gave away this year, the idea normally comes from Yvette.  She is one of the many people who make this pantry possible.

Featured Story - Patron

Phillip

I do not have a picture of the patron that I want to highlight this month.  His name is Phillip and he passed away last week.  I have known Phillip for ten years and during that time we became friends.  There were many times when he would pick up food for someone who could not come, or when he would bring someone who had no way to get to the pantry.  I celebrated with him a few years ago when he won the beautifully decorated Christmas tree we gave away.  I heard he displayed it proudly each year.  I grieved with him when he lost his favorite cousin and nephew.  I grieve for him today as I am sure many others do.  Rest well my friend.

Featured Story - Donor

Chris

For the second year Chris has been instrumental in getting our hunger garden started.  Chris grows all her own plants from seed and donates them to us.  She also brings lots of extra plants for our patrons and routinely donates bounty from her own large garden.  Chris worked with us a few months ago to decide what we would plant.  She also came and participated in our annual planting day with some local grandparents and their grandchildren to ensure everything was planted correctly.  Chris is the one I call with garden questions, and I so appreciate her dedication to our ministry.
